Change Login Screen Wallpaper in Windows 10

1. The first thing you need to do is right-click an empty space on your desktop and select “Personalize.”

2. When the Personalise window opens, select ‘Lock screen’ in the left menu. In Windows 10 the Lock screen image is tied up to the login screen. Under the thumbnail of your lock screen you’ll see Background selection:

Windows spotlight – If you’re connected to the internet, Microsoft will show you a different, random picture every day from all around the world. This is often a very popular option among Windows users.

Picture – this option allows you to select your own preferred image (static)for your background.

Slideshow – In the latest option, you’ll be able to select a whole folder or folders of images which the system will use as a slideshow for your Login screen/Lock screen. There are also some other settings under ‘Advanced slideshow settings’ to customize the slideshow experience.

3. After selecting the preferred option, scroll down to ‘Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen’ and click on the slider button to turn it On (if it’s not in the position already).

4. That’s it! You can now close the Settings window and the Login screen, together with the Lock screen will feature the image/slideshow you have selected.

Change Login Screen Wallpaper in Windows 11

The way of changing the login screen image in Windows 11 is very much the same as you were used to in Windows 10.

  1. There are several options for how to get into Windows settings. Go to Start -> and then click on the Settings button, or use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + I, or click the right mouse button on the empty space on your desktop.

2. After the Settings window opens, select Personalisation from the menu on the left, following clicking on the Lock screen option on the right.

3. When the Lock screen windows open, head to Personalize your lock screen section under the thumbnail and select one of the three options:

Windows spotlight – If you’re connected to the internet, Microsoft will show you a different, random picture every day from all around the world. This is often a very popular option among Windows users.

Picture – this option allows you to select your own preferred image (static)for your background.

Slideshow – In the latest option, you’ll be able to select a whole folder or folders of images which the system will use as a slideshow for your Login screen/Lock screen. There are also some other settings under ‘Advanced slideshow settings’ to customize the slideshow experience.

You can also tick a ‘Get fun facts, tips, tricks and more on your lock screen’ option for a more interactive experience as well as choose Weather, Calendar or for example, Mail to display on your lock screen right away.

4. Right at the bottom, there will be a ‘Show the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen’ option. Click on the slide to the On position, to turn the feature on.
