We all have probably had experienced a moment when binge-watching the favourite TV series or movie on Netflix and just wanted to skip the boring part but feel like you might miss an important moment which might be crucial to the whole story.
For those who like to enjoy the whole episode, but prefer rather faster or slower course of it, Netflix now allows to change the playback speed of the video you’re watching.
The feature won’t probably be available on all devices just yet, as the apps on your TV or other streaming devices might still have to go through an update first but it’s at least already available in their web version player.
How to change the video playback speed on PC or laptop?
- Go to the Netflix website on your computer or laptop, login, select your account and play a TV show or movie you’d wish to watch.
- When the video starts playing, move your mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen to reveal the player controls.
- On the right side of the control panel hover over the playback speed icon.
- Playback speed options will pop up and you can then pick one of the five different settings (0.5x, 0.75x, 1x (Normal), 1.25x or 1.5x)
The settings you’ve chosen won’t save for your next session and won’t be applied to other profiles either so you have to select the preferable speed every time you play a video.
How to change the video playback speed on mobile phone?
If you have your updates on for the netflix app on your Android phone, iPhone or iPad, you will have the feature available there now.
To change the video playback speed there, launch the app and select the video you’d like to watch. When the video starts playing, click on screen and you will find the speed playback icon in the bottom left hand corner.
Click on speed icon and select the speed you like. Same as in the computer/browser app the settings won’t be carried over to your next video session and you’ll have to adjust it again.
Will subtitles speed adjust to my select speed?
Yes, the subtitles will automaticaly catch up to your playback speed so you will be still able to rely and enjoy the movie with the on-screen text.
