The promised Motorola Edge S has been officially introduced today and is now in pre-sale in China.

The smartphone is expected to be a successor to the previous model Motorola Edge. The phone comes with a rather affordable price (currently priced only in China, no price tags available for the global market yet) and recently introduced brand new Snapdragon 870 built on 7nm technology.

⚙️ The Snapdragon 870 processor features an 8-core processor with one Cortex-A78 core reaching amazing 3.2Ghz, which is currently the highest value out of all current mobile processors. The Edge S’ processor also features an inbuilt 5G.

There are 3 different variants available, with Turbo UFS 3.1 storage, which is basically a new, much faster, power-efficient technology of internal memory:

  • 6GB RAM with 128 GB storage
  • 8GB RAM with 128 GB storage
  • 8GB RAM with 256 GB storage

📱 The Motorola Edge S was introduced with a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD 2520x1080p resolution at 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10 support.

🤳 Motorola/Lenovo has implemented two selfie cameras into the screen, in minimalistic looking punch-holes. The main selfie camera received a 16MP sensor, accompanied with 8MP ultrawide sensor.

👉 Motorola decided to go with their proofed concept and embedded the fingerprint scanner into the phone’s frame (right side).

📷On the back of the phone, we will then find two camera lenses able to capture a 6K video at 30 fps, or 4K at 60fps. The main camera comes with 64MP (f1.7 aperture) sensor, shooting at 100° angle and ultrawide 16MP sensor with phase-detect autofocus shooting at 121° angle.

There is also a 2MP fixed-focus depth sensor so-called TOF, time-of-flight sensor/ infrared light laser complementing the cameras, which measures the distance between the camera and objects, for instance, improving the blur (bokeh) effect in portrait photographs.

🔋 The Motorola Edge S is powered by a 5000mAh battery and supports fast 20W charging. Good news for the new buyers is, that the charger is provided in the box.

The phone also features IP52 water resistance, which is enough to protect from minor water splashes and a bit of dust. Another good news is for audiophiles as the phone still hasn’t abandoned its 3.5mm headphone jack.

💸 In China, the Motorola Edge S will cost you:

  • 🇨🇳 CNY 1,999 (£225/€255) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model
  • 🇨🇳 CNY 2,399 (£270/€305) for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage model
