The Poco brand, a subsidiary of the Chinese tech manufacturer Xiaomi, has managed to launch several interesting phones in its so far short existence and prepares for yet another premiere in a couple of days. The company will hold a global event on 22 March during which it will unveil a new smartphone called Poxo X3 Pro, which will look like the popular Poco X3 but with much-improved hardware.

The first country where the phone will be officially launched will most likely be India, which has set a launch event on 30 March.

As from its name ‘Pro’ it will be an improved version of the successful mid-range model X3. The smartphone seems to attract enough publicity the closer it gets to its official launch so many of the social media and tech news magazines keep leaking one detail after another.

Poco X3 Pro: Chipset and memory

As rumours, leaks and official pre-launch information suggest, the Poco X3 Pro will get a chipset from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series, which could be either powerful Snapdragon 888 or 870, which is an overclocked version of last years 865, however, according to Shopee listings (Shopee is a Singaporean consumer electronics online shop giant), the new Poco X3 Pro will be powered by Snapdragon 860, which hasn’t been officially launched yet. This detail also suggests that the chipset would come with Kryo 485 8-core processor clocked at up to 2.96GHz and a Qualcomm Adreno 640 GPU.

The revised chipset specs are also very similar to the Snapdragon 855 and 855+ which were used in many of the 2019’s flagship smartphones.

The Poco X3 Pro will also come in 2 configurations with either 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage or 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. They will be available in 3 different colour variants: Metal Bronze, Frost Blue and Phantom Black.

Poco X3 Pro: Display

We don’t know yet about what size of the display will be used here, although we know that it will be an IPS Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 resolution) 120Hz display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate for a smooth browsing experience.

Update 21/03: An additional information leaked from the Vietnamese version of the Shopee consumer electronics seller, confirming a 6.67-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display, protected by Gorilla Glass 6.

The Poco X3 Pro will come with Android 11 right out of the box, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 user interface.

Poco X3 Pro: Battery and more features

The phone is also said to be featuring a quite large 5160mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. You will be able to charge your phone up to 62% charge in 30 minutes and 100% charge in just over an hour.

The charging adapter will be included in the box.

We can also look forward to an expandable memory via a microSD card slot, stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC. The fingerprint sensor will be built-in on the side of Poco’s chassis.

Poco X3 Pro: Camera

As for the camera, the Poco X3 Pro will get a quad-camera setup with a 48MP main lens accompanied by 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors.

Update 23/02: The leak from the Vietnamese version of Shopee also tells us that the Poco X3 Pro will have a 20MP front selfie camera.

We can also see some of the sample photos taken by the new Poco X3 Pro on the brand’s official Twitter page which, by the way, don’t look bad at all.

Poco X3 Pro: Self-healing?

According to the official website, the new Poco X3 Pro might also get a Healing Ability, which might be some kind of surface finish that would be able to cover tiny scratches on the phone’s back.

Poco X3 Pro: Price

According to a European smartphone retailer, the Poco X3 Pro will start at €269.00 (£231 after conversion) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version and €319.00 (£275 after conversion) for the better 8GB + 256GB one. This information can’t be verified yet, though.

The Poco X3 Pro’s premiere is about to air in a couple of hours and it is possible that more details about this very much expected smartphone might be shown before, in which case we’ll let you know.
